Small plug for me mates. 1st and 3rd SUNDAYS of the month 1:00pm-4:00pm We are in PEARLRIDGE CENTER (Honolulu, HI). Location within the mall may vary at the Mall's discretion. Comic Jams are a social get together of local artists (professional, aspiring, and hobbyist). We do collaborative cartoons, illustrations, and sketches while talking story. All abilities levels are welcome, all we ask for is for participants to have fun and join in where they're comfortable. These are very informal get togethers. Drawings are collected at the end of each session and scanned into our Facebook Group page. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the mon

KAWAII KON 2011

Went to my first Kawaii Kon last weekend (4/28-30).  Its a convention in Hawaii for, what I can only describe it as, "Japanese influenced pop culture" (Cosplay mostly). The downside was I did not sell a lot of artwork.  Only a couple of pieces - not a lot unfortunately.  I mostly just sat there watching people look at my artwork then moving on to more interesting items I guess - very sobering. The upside was that I got to meet a lot of interesting people - artists like Jon J Murakami, Billy Burson, and Sam Campos.  All very talented. sorry it took so long to get back to you, ive been a bit busy recently
anyway in regards to your sand worm submission, it appears theres a bit of photo manip/matte painting involved
we dont accept photo manips at all, and in matte paintings we have quite high standards so that is likely why it was declined.
yes the rocks were the concern ;) hope to see some more from ya mate, just keep that in mind for next time
I see. Thanks for the clarification. The only photo used was for the foreground desert (the rocks). Other than that, everything else was painted 'from scratch'.
